My job requires me to attend social events of our high paying clients and to make sure that their needs and wants are met. Because of that, I need to make sure my body is ready for all the drinking so I can function in the mornings. Let me tell you, the drinking culture in South Korea is not a joke. It’s a strong indication of hierarchy and manners so not accepting a drink is considered rude.
I’m not young and I can feel it every time I wake up after a heavy drinking session with my colleagues and clients. I know alcohol somehow ages my body beyond my years and I know that I have to do something about it. Feeling sluggish and sick all the time should stop as it slowly affects my work. And I couldn’t stand that my husband started to joke about my haggard appearance that can only be covered by makeup! I love him but still! I really need to do something about the damage alcohol is doing not just inside my body but also on what I look.
I couldn’t try to lessen my interaction with alcohol because of my job so I tried other things, like changing my diet, taking multivitamins, and going to the gym. But somehow I felt like they’re not doing anything for me. I couldn’t keep up with the routine and the hard work required to maintain these things. It felt like nothing would work for me.
